The most important person in the equation is you. Through our method we help you clarify your thinking & translate your goals into a design vision. With a clear vision, we can select elements that tell a cohesive story.

Your vision is translated into a mood board - this is the visual development of the story of your space. Depending on the scope of the project a mood board will include a combination of: Photo Inspiration, Color Scheme, Finishes & Materials, Patterns & Texture, Furnishings. 

Interior Design is all about creating harmony & balance. This balance is created through space planning - we calculate the mathematical ratios to ensure your furniture is the right size for your space. We source furniture and give you options that fit those dimensions. Buh-bye awkward couch - hello harmony!

One of the big things for most is probably budget. Like they finally have some money so they buy a couch. Then months later they save up and buy a table, etc. or they buy based on deals to save money but it’s the wrong piece.

The Beginnings of

Design In A Day

When I was in design school I was determined to help people solve these problems, because they were the same challenges that motivated me to go to design school in the first place. This got me thinking. Could I help people get their design right the first time at a budget that’s within their means? Could I help people tell their story?

From these questions, Design In A Day was born. The reason I created this product is because I want everyday people to be able to access high quality design within their budget. I want to make it easy for people to move through the design process & have fun while doing it. I want to take something that was once a luxury reserved for the wealthy & make it accessible for a broader audience. I want to make design attainable so that your home becomes the comfortable, functional, beautiful space it can be. Let’s write the story of your home together… shall we?

While the process itself is simple, without knowing basic design principles & fundamentals it’s quite hard to do it on your own. This program isn’t for everyone, maybe you want to do it yourself still, educate yourself in color, space planning and design tools. But if you’re a busy professional or busy mom or overwhelmed by design - then let us help you.

Step-by-step process 

Getting Started

  1. Select your package - we offer different levels of Design In A Day. The scope of the project is customized to your needs & pricing is updated based on your selections.

  2. Fill in the Client Intake Form - Remember when we said home is the most intimate, authentic reflection of you… well, we want to get to know you! It’s as easy as A,B,C.
    a. We’ll ask you 5 short questions that help us to understand your needs, your space, and your taste.
    b. Upload 2-3 inspiration photos & what you like about each of them. We’ll show you an example of this to get your creative juices flowing.
    c. A quick game of this or that. We’ll show you some photos & you’ll choose what you like better and what about the photo you like.

  3. Submit Photos & Measurements - We will send you complete instructions and an example… but for the curious who can’t wait to get going. Measurements should be taken in inches from the start and end of each wall. Please mark the windows and doors. Photos should be taken from each corner of the room and then straight on. Total of 8!

  4. That’s it! You’re Ready for Design Day! We will schedule your Design Day no later than 2 weeks after your Client Intake & Photos are complete.
